What is Russian Manicure?

The Russian manicure (also known as the European, Eastern European, dry, e-file, or structured manicure) is a waterless technique that emphasizes precise cuticle care using specialized electric drill bits. This meticulous preparation allows gel polish to be applied deeply under the cuticle, creating a seamless, streak-free finish. A layer of builder gel beneath the polish provides a smooth, durable base, resulting in a clean, long-lasting manicure that remains flawless for weeks.

What is the difference between a Russian manicure and a regular manicure?

Russian Manicure Protocole:

1. Nail Preparation

  • Old polish is removed (if present).

  • Nails are shaped to the desired form using a file.

  • Surface is lightly buffed to remove shine and oils.

2. Dry Cuticle Work (E-file)

  • Using specialized electric drill bits, the cuticle area is carefully exfoliated.

  • Dead skin and buildup around the nail plate are gently removed.

  • The cuticle is lifted and cleaned thoroughly without water or soaking.

3. Cuticle Trimming (Optional)

  • In some cases, fine scissors or nippers are used to trim excess cuticle for a cleaner finish.

4. Final Clean-up

  • Final cuticle preparation and polishing

5. Builder Gel Application (if used)

  • A thin layer of builder gel is applied to strengthen the nail and create a smooth base.

  • It is cured under a UV/LED lamp.

6. Gel Polish Application

  • Gel color is applied, starting deeply under the cuticle line for a seamless, "grown-out" look.

  • Usually involves 2–3 thin coats, each cured under a lamp.

7. Top Coat & Final Cure

  • A gel top coat is applied for shine and durability.

  • Final curing under UV/LED lamp.

8. Finishing Touches

  • Sticky residue is removed (if needed).

  • Cuticle oil is massaged in for hydration and polish

Russian Pedicure Protocole:

1. Initial Assessment & Disinfection

The feet are examined for any skin or nail issues. The area is disinfected to ensure hygiene.

 2. Dry Work – No Soaking

Unlike classic pedicures, the Russian pedicure is performed dry, without soaking the feet in water. This helps achieve more precise results.

 3. Cuticle Cleaning with E-File

The cuticle and surrounding skin are gently cleaned using an electric file (e-file) with special bits. This allows for a clean, deep polish application later.

 4. Nail Shaping

Nails are trimmed, filed, and shaped according to the client’s preference – square, round, almond, etc.

 5. Nail Plate Preparation

The nail surface is buffed and cleaned to remove oils and debris, ensuring better product adhesion.

 6. Gel Polish Application (Optional)

If desired, a base coat, gel polish, and top coat are applied. The polish is placed very close under the cuticle for a “freshly done” look that lasts longer.

 7. Callus and Hard Skin Removal

Rough skin, corns, and calluses are removed with the e-file and specialized attachments, leaving the feet soft and smooth.

 8. Final Touches

Moisturizing lotion or cuticle oil is applied, and the technician checks all details for a flawless finish.
